2019 Annual Membership Meeting January 18-19

A brief report of the NC Region Annual Membership Meeting January 18-19, 2019.
The NC Region Annual Meeting was held at the newer Raleigh Ramada Inn. There were over 100 members attending the event which is about the same as past years events. The Friday afternoon schedule included an AACA Judging School presented by Dain King. The Judging School was followed by two Continuing Judges Education (CJE) courses taught by Mike Peterson (Vehicle Documentation) and Dain King (Exterior Judging). These were very informative sessions.
On Saturday NC Region Board meeting was held at 8:30 am. At 10 am a representative of the North Carolina State Patrol (NCHP) discussed the organization, duties and special responsibilities during Hurricanes. NCHP has detailed plans for coverage, assignments and contingencies during these emergencies.
At 11 am Tom Cox, AACA National President gave and overview of the status of the plans to renovate and occupy the new headquarters building . Tom informed us that the facility will serve all of the 65,000 members. AACA must raise $3 million to renovate the facility to properly support the AACA operations, the growing AACA Library and facilitate the Hershey Car show. An AACA Capital Program is underway and members are urged to donate.
After lunch the Annual Membership meeting was held. 2018 activities and 2019 plans were discussed. New Officers were elected including John Allred, President and Asby Armistead, Vice President. Five new Directors were also elected including Charles Wells, Carl Anthony Bright, Bynum Hancock, Mike Kraus and Linda McAdam. Awards were presented for special vehicles shown at the NC Region Spring and Fall Meets. Awards were also presented the Chapter reporters the contributed to every NC Region Newsletter. The 2018 Circle of Honor award was presented to Paige Lyons for her many years serving as the Past NC Region Secretary/Treasurer. The 2019 Dave Hinkle award was presented to Jack Harris for his many contributions to the NC Region and to AACA.
