Scholarship

NEW RIVER SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENT MEMBERS

New River Chapter of North Carolina Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America will provide an annual Youth Development Student Scholarship to a student member(s) in good standing who selects a trade school, college level course of study in automotive or engineering associated fields.  The Chapter will pursue commercial donors, individual and memorial contributions, and other donations to the fund.

 Membership Requirement:

The student(s) must be a Student AACA member for at least two years.

Eligibility:

An AACA Student Member(s) with association to New River Chapter must have shown interest by attending occasional Chapter meetings and events such as car-shows, tours and picnics or outings.  The student should assist with New River Chapter car show and participate in judging program and Youth Development activities.

Application:

The Student should be a member of AACA in good standing and submit the following items/records to New River Chapter President for the Scholarship Committee:.

*Provide high school record and recommendation from guidance counselor or principal.

*Provide acceptance letter from college or trade school of selection and Program of study.

*Submit a letter requesting the New River Scholarship.  Include a description of your future plans, your association with AACA, and other activities you feel relevant.

 Scholarship Fund:

The New River Chapter will set aside $200-500 each year into a scholarship account which will accumulate until a scholarship is awarded to a student member.  The amount will be determined by the fund, the number of awards issued and the number of years the scholarship award will be provided.

*Additional funding may be contributed to the New River Chapter of AACA Scholarship Fund through individual donations, memorials, fund raisers, and special events.

*Actual Scholarship funds may be kept with regular New River account until the fund exceeds $1000, at which time a separate trust account will be established by the President and Treasure as co-trustees.  

 Scholarship Committee:

The Scholarship Committee shall consist of the Chapter President, the Secretary and 2 active Past- Presidents.  Past-Presidents must be active in New River Chapter activities to serve on the committee.  The past presidents may be selected from greater than last 2 presidents if needed to find active members.  The committee will recommend the award amount of at least $200 and the number of award years not to exceed 4 years.  The individual award may not exceed $500 per award per year.

 Scholarship Award:

The Committee will present their applicant findings and award recommendations in writing to the Chapter members at a regular Chapter meeting.  The members will vote on the recommendations at the next scheduled Chapter meeting.  The member will then be notified in writing by the Secretary as to the award amount and the number of years the award will run, PROVIDING THE AWARDED MEMBER REMAINS IN THE SELECTED PROGRAM AWARDED AND SUBMITS ANNUAL UPDATE AS TO THEIR SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE IN THAT PROGRAM.
