New River Chapter 2019 Car Show

Story and pictures by Ginger Wright

On September 28, 2019, New River Chapter hosted its annual car show at Doctors Park in Jacksonville,NC. This is a nice venue, with shady areas, and located just across the street from the Jacksonville Mall. We closed out the NC Region Chapter Show season with one of our best turnouts, close to 70 participants. Our thanks to all you who supported this event. It was a very warm sunny day, because of the heat, it was decided to present the awards earlier than planned. The top awards, went to the following: Mike Jones’ 1970 Boss 302 Mustang got AACA Best in Show, and Ed Penuel’s 1969 Camaro Super Sport got Best in Show, Modified. We also gave two Sponsor Choice awards; these went to Brent Larson’s 1957 VW Beetle and to Mike Puritis’ 1965 Ford Mustang. Philip Reid’s 1955 Chevy 210 Wagon received our club’s People Choice Award. Thanks, also to our sponsors, who made it possible for us to host this show and support the Women’s Shelter of Jacksonville this year.

New River Annual Car Show Jacksonville, NC November 10, 2018

Pictures and Story by Ginger Wright

November 10th New River Chapter hosted the last AACA NC Region Chapter car show for the 2018 season. We had forty-three participants, not bad considering we had to change our date due to the Hurricane and it was a cold and blustery day. We are very grateful to all who brought their automotive treasures. On October 20th long time chapter member, WWII and Korean War Veteran, Fred Mezias passed away.  It is his 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, the “Pink Lady” that was honored on our dash plaque.
