2016 San-Lee Chapter Meet Report – June 4, 2016

Sanford, NC –
Hosted by the San-Lee Chapter AACA

The San-Lee AACA Chapter held their annual Classics to Customs car show in downtown Sanford, NC.  There was plenty of very warm sunshine. The show was held in downtown Sanford with most cars displayed on the closed off Moore St. The older cars displayed near the Depot Tracks. There were 55 cars displayed. The San-Lee Chapter provided snacks, hats and cold water for the participants.

San-Lee Report by Bill Cox

I was finally able to attend a San Lee Chapter show in June of this year. It seems as though I have always been tied up with some other activity in early June, but the moon was in the seventh house and Jupiter aligned with Mars so I was able to find my way there. It was a toasty June Saturday with plenty of sunshine and no rain in sight.

What a beautiful spot for a show! To start with it’s in the center of old Sanford where old shops and restaurants still exist, and the old railway station is the focus of the area. While the meet goes on, a farmers market displays their goods around the station for the public to enjoy. There’s always something nostalgic about railroads in general and railway stations more specifically that invokes happy times of travel and meeting friends.

This year’s show was well attended with folks from several chapters bringing an awesome variety of some really nice cars. I was able to get lunch with Denny Oestreich at one of his favorite local hamburger spots in the middle of town. I’m sending along a number of pictures for you to enjoy. If you haven’t made it to Sanford for their show, watch the moon and the stars next year and line up your calendar for the event.  Call Denny for the name of that hamburger place…. You’ll have a great time at the show and get a good lunch to boot!
