Bob Hughes Editor’s Award

This award was established January 21,1995 at the Annual Business meeting. It was established in an effort to reward those members for their outstanding contributions to the newspaper. In 1997, the Board of Directors named the award after Bob Hughes – former editor, chapter reporter, NC Region President and Director.

(A.) QUALIFICATIONS

(1.) All Region members are eligible.

(2.) There will be two awards offered each year. They will be awarded for “the best chapter reporter” and “the best article submitted” (other than chapter news).

(3.) A chapter reporter is eligible for both awards provided they also wrote an article, or articles, other than chapter news.

(4.) All Region members can nominate a member for either or both awards. Nominations must be mailed to the Region editor postmarked on or before December 31 each year.

(5.) The chapter reporter must have submitted an article for each issue and on a timely basis. The “best article award” goes to the member with the most votes.

(B.) JUDGES

The Region editor will make the final decision.

(C.) AWARD

The news editor will present a plaque to the winners at the Annual Business Meeting. The Region dues for the following year will be waived & the cost of the meal at the Annual Business meeting will be waived. The plaque will be furnished by the Property Control Officer.

(D.) AMENDMENTS

Amendments to this award can only be made at the January Business meeting with the majority of those members present voting in the affirmative for the changes.
