2012 Sept/Oct News update

The 44th annual Coastal Plains Chapter ended with a beautiful day along the waterfront in Washington, with 112 cars lined up on the street. Best of show went to Sean Wright from Sneads Ferry, with his 1936 Rolls-Royce sedan. This is a true European classic. I would like to thank all those who supported and those which made the trip down east to make this show our best so far. Plenty of food, snacks and cookies were supplied, making it a memorable day. Some of the fi nest automobiles ever produced were on display.
Friday nights and Saturday cruise-ins are still happening around our area. A few 4th of July shows were attended by some member’s hot dogs, apple pie and fireworks.
Looks like gas prices have come down some. Remember when in 1987
gas on the average was $1.19 and a first-class stamp was 22 cents. Our 66 Mustang gets 23 mpg now, which isn’t bad for a 46-year-old auto.
We showed our support at the First Capital Chapter in New Bern show in May with five members. Check out their web site for great photos.
It’s amazing, anywhere you go in an old car, people talk to you while filling up at the gas pump, at red lights or just waving with open eyes. So, get on the open road and wave back.
Memories that endure all of us car folks at one time or other had a car maybe in high school and maybe it was our first auto that we could roll up our sleeves and turn our wrenches. Mine was a 52 Chevy. Whenever I see one at a show or cruise-in I get that memory flash back…. Drive safely.
2011 “On the Waterfront” Show
